The DNA of Worship
I am thrilled about all the Lord is doing here at our church and I wanted to give you all an update on the worship and music ministry here at David’s!
First, Pastor Allan and I have been working together with members of our worship ministry to put together a comprehensive Worship Team Handbook that details our vision, expectations, standards, and strategies for increasing our excellence. After over sixteen rounds of editing we presented this handbook to the entire worship team in September. We walked through and discussed each section in detail and feel that this document will help guide our overall worship ministry going forward.
Second, we have been talking allot about intentionally fostering the DNA of our worship culture at David’s. Five words/phrases we would like to describe the DNA of our worship culture are Christ-exalting, excellent, passionate, vibrant, and fun. We feel these words resonate with the ultimate goals of our team. We want to honor Christ above all else. We desire to participate in a quality-filled and excellent worship experience. We aspire for our team to exude genuine passion for the One who created us and saves us. We aim to create a thriving and vibrant worship culture where life is abundant. We also seek to make our worship celebratory and triumphant in light of the greatness of our God.
One reason we felt the need to define our goals and trajectory is because we have been blessed with so many people who want to join and participate in our worship team ministry. We felt that we needed to put a process in place to see new people brought into the ministry in a thoughtful, careful, and intentional way. Outlining our expectations and purpose will help guide us as we move forward and expand our team.
Third, we have decided to create additional volunteer positions within the worship team to see the entire ministry excel. My philosophy of worship leadership is to empower capable leaders within their areas of strength. I call this “creating layers of leadership.” One of my greatest joys in ministry is seeing people thrive as they operate in their areas of gifting for the glory of God.
Fourth, I am enthusiastic about our music plans for the Christmas season. We are assembling a children’s vocal group who will present on Sunday, December 6th; Sunday, December 20th; as well as Christmas Eve. The presentation on December 20th will be in conjunction with our choir, which will be exciting to experience!
I am so thankful to the Lord for His faithfulness. I don’t think anyone could deny that the Lord is moving mightily in our midst. It is such a pleasure to work alongside Pastor Allan and Pastor Danny, and I am eager to see what the Lord has in store for us this fall and winter. Please pray for wisdom from the Lord as we strive to walk in a manner that glorifies our God.
For His Glory,
Christian House
